I am a psychologist who specialises in child development. I am especially interested in how children learn basic skills, such as literacy and numeracy, whilst in primary school. I investigate how adversity impacts on progress through school, whether it be through brain damage acquired during childhood (though tumour, preterm birth, or stroke) or deprivation (extreme poverty) and if tablet technology can assist learning in these children. I work with schools in the UK and low and middle income countries, such as Malawi, South Africa, and Brazil.
Key topics for news and current affairs - mobile techologies in the classroom and how children cope with brain injury.
