Chinese culture and history, from late imperial period onwards in particular; Chinese clothing and fashion; gender relations; disability, identity and rights in China; Chinese film, literature, documentary and life writing.
Dr Dauncey has previously worked as an adviser on Circling the Dragon, a documentary about disability rights in China (Channel 4, 1994), as well as other research work for major international films and television programmes.
Published extensively on Chinese culture, education and policy and a recent British Academy-funded project will be published shortly as a monograph on Disability in China: Citizenship, Identity and Culture (CUP).
