A new director has been appointed to drive forward the biggest fundraising campaign in The University of Nottingham’s history.
Doug Thomson will be joining the institution from March 2014 as Director of Campaign and Alumni Relations (CARO).
A University of Nottingham graduate, Doug has already worked with the University’s senior management and the CARO team on an advisory basis for several years.
Impact: The Nottingham Campaign was launched in October 2011 with the aim of reaching £150m. It has already achieved two-thirds of this target.
Experience of philanthropy
Professor David Greenaway, Vice-Chancellor, said: “The Campaign stands currently at over £105 million of philanthropic funds raised and this is a real testimony to the hard work and talent we have brought to bear.
“Doug’s institutional knowledge, his affinity as a Nottingham graduate and wide experience of philanthropy in the higher education and grant-making sectors gives us the confidence to drive Impact to a really spectacular conclusion.”
Impact: The Nottingham Campaign is supporting a vibrant range of projects which are already changing people’s lives, shaping the future and having a global impact.
Generous campaign gifts from all over the world are being contributed on a regular basis adding to major gifts including our largest ever corporate gift and our largest ever single gift from an alumnus.
The CARO team will be further strengthened by the appointment of Debbie Henthorn as Deputy Director (Operations). This is a new role providing enhanced coordination across CARO’s fundraising, supporter engagement and campaign functions and enabling continued progress in building influence, affinity and philanthropic support.
