Reflection can lead to a realisation that a practitioner needs the time and space to work on interpersonal or emotional issues in more depth. Counselling offers an opportunity to talk in confidence about issues that concern you and may deepen your understanding of what is happening. It can help you to develop alternative ways of dealing with the situation, enhancing relationships and benefiting practice.

For more information on counselling visit the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy website or see Evans (2007) in the References. The University of Nottingham counselling service is also available to staff and students.
