Core principles of PARs
Whether you decide to develop an IT-based PAR or a paper-based PAR, the principles
remain the same.
- PARs are predominantly student-focused:
- a balance is to be struck between meeting the administrative needs of the
department and supporting the development of students on an individual basis.
- a minimum level of one-to-one staff-student dialogue should be agreed. Experience
so far indicates that a pattern of three short meetings per year seems to
be the minimum practical arrangement. It is understood that distance-learning
students may need to use telephone and email.
