Guidelines for academic departments
The experience of piloting PARs in a wide range of subjects in the PADSHE
project has given rise to the following set of guidelines which define
the rationale and objectives which all variants of PARs should embody.
This is the basic framework to guide customising. However, it is essential
for each school/department that PARs provide a single process capable both
of streamlining all their own internal good practice and of meeting all
external demands relating to academic and personal support and guidance.
So, wherever the course requirements of a public or statutory body imply
further or different provision, the PAR should be developed to integrate
them. These guidelines will evolve further as new disciplines take on PARs
and as, for example, QAA policies change.
