Changing to a PAR
Schools / departments which have achieved a smooth introduction
of their PAR have tended to include some or all of the following points of good
practice:
- full consultation with staff and students at the design stage
- piloting a trial version first, with, say, first year students only
- scope for staff and student responses to affect what happens
- regular updating of staff and students, showing how their inputs have been
used
- evaluating student and staff reactions to the scheme during an early period
of its introduction, and allowing modifications to be made in the light of
feedback and critical reflection upon evidence
- integrating PAR activities into the routine of the school / department,
e.g. by co-ordinating and timetabling them, writing them into an agreed school
/ departmental calendar of events published for the use of both staff and
students.
