... background
The Promise service aims to benefit the farmer in three main areas:
1. Profit
higher pregnancy rates
fewer days open and service per conception
focuses and ease fertility management
improved control on replacement policy
2. Control
simplifies heat detection
rapid identification of non-cycling cows
uses of expenseive semen on fertile cows only
rapid and accurate pregnancy detection
ensures servicing of cows at correct time
3. Welfare
minimise and target drug use
non-invasive procedures reduces stress on cows and herdsmen
lowers culling rates
PROMISETM achieves these benefits by providing a dynamic and concise picture of the fertility status of each cow in the herd. By doing so PROMISETM offers
substantial improvements in the efficiency of fertility management at key points during a cows reproductive cycle. PROMISETM provides the herdsman with a valuable
diagnostic tool to help identify problem cows, to monitor and predict heat and to detect pregnancy.
This is achieved by a combination of analysing the timing of key events of cow behaviour and targetted monitoring og milk progesterone levels.
