Eliot is an agricultural sociologist and economist, working on the application of digital technologies in farming. His PhD focusses on the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices in the developing world.

Data mining and machine learning in technological change studies can dramatically advance our understanding and precision in implementing development interventions. In addition, the growing prevalence of information communication technologies presents a key tool for delivering and measuring the reception of interventions in practice. Eliot hopes to bridge the gap between farmers and researchers, enriching their mutual understanding with more accurate, accessible and reflexive data.
