Silvia works in close collaboration with the Future Food Beacon. Her current research is focused on understanding the adaptation of plants and their microbiome to harsh and changing environments. She has broadly characterized the natural variation for elemental accumulation in wild populations of Brassicaceae species from Catalonia. This works opens the door to studying the physiological mechanisms and genetic basis of adaptive traits.

Silvia earned her PhD from the University of Aberdeen and UAB in 2015. She was a postdoctoral researcher in Levi Yant’s lab at the John Innes Centre for 2 years.
