Prisca is a PhD student in Law, researching the implementation of international anti-trafficking frameworks within the socio-cultural and human development contexts of domestic care workers in Malawi. Her research, supervised by Dr Katarina Schwarz and Prof Anna La Chimia, aims to identify gaps between international frameworks and their practical implementation in developing African settings, examining the social, cultural, and developmental factors that shape vulnerabilities to trafficking and influence enforcement.
Prisca has worked as a Research Assistant for the UN Special Rapporteur on Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, where she conducted research and submitted reports on states’ implementation of international legal instruments on human trafficking. This work led to published blogs analysing the implementation efforts of countries such as Malawi, Ethiopia, Thailand, and Nepal.
She also contributed to the local working team on the British American Tobacco (BAT) case concerning human trafficking in Malawi’s tobacco fields, submitting reports that prompt the government to respond to issues raised.
