Insights and innovative solutions to help end modern slavery

At the Rights Lab, we generate research discoveries to help end modern slavery and human trafficking. We believe that a slavery-free world is possible through collaborative action that applies our knowledge – and we believe that business activity is key to achieving this goal.

As a business, you’re facing higher than ever risks (reputational, commercial, legal) when modern slavery issues emerge in your operations and supply chains. Organisations often lack internal expertise, capacity or data to tackle the risk of modern slavery, and so seek guidance on best practice to do so.

We design innovative solutions to the complex challenge of modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking, using unique data-sources and diverse methods. We’ve worked at global and local scales with public, private and third-sector organisations on a wide range of discovery and solutions projects.

We can help with...

  • Developing a strategic response to modern slavery risk

  • Deep analysis including local investigations and remote sensing

  • Best practice recommendations for targeted interventions and remediation

  • Risk assessments and support to meet compliance obligations

  • Capability development including speaking events, briefings and more...

Case study: Procurement Analysis for Government of Canada

Public Works and Government Services Canada’s (PWGSC’s) Procurement team approached us to undertake a risk analysis of human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in their supply chains. As a result of this analysis and our stakeholder engagement, we also developed a guidance document for suppliers with context on the top 10 highest risk product areas. Both are now in use by PWGSC.
