business-prog-1000X666

Funder: Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
Duration: August 2020-July 2021
Project Lead: Dr Alexander Trautrims
Programme: Business and Economies
Partner: British Standards Institution (BSI)

About the project

This project will develop the first British and International Standards on organisational responses against Modern Slavery. The BSI is the UK’s chartered body for standard setting. Together with industry experts, we will co-produce and set the standard first at a British level and in parallel but over a longer timeframe internationally at ISO level. The developed BSI and ISO standards will improve organisations’ actions and be mandated by many into their supply chain through tendering and compliance processes, creating impact with a far and powerful reach. The most widely used international standard (ISO 9001 on quality management systems) has been adopted by more than one million organisations in 178 countries.
