Biography

After completing his studies in civil engineering at the Middle East Technical University (METU), Dr. Tezel joined the School of Built Environment (SoBE) at the University of Salford in 2007 as an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) sponsored PhD researcher. He completed his PhD on Lean Construction and Visual Management in 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Lauri Koskela and Prof. Patricia Tzortzopoulos.

Dr. Tezel was appointed as a research fellow in 2015 to deliver a series of research projects sponsored by the industry on Lean and Digital Construction at the University of Salford. He joined the University of Huddersfield in 2016 first as a research fellow, and then was promoted to a lecturer in 2017, and to a senior lecture in 2018. He established and led the BSc Construction Management and MSc Advanced Project Management in Construction courses at the same university. He later joined the civil engineering department at Aston University in 2021 as a lecturer and course leader for the MSc Construction Management and Engineering course.

Dr. Tezel joined the civil engineering department at the University of Nottingham in 2023 as an associate professor in civil engineering and management. He is currently leading the MSc.Civil Engineering and Management course and acting as the deputy director for PG studies. Alongside his academic experience, he also has industry experience and worked for five years as a project manager to deliver large scale engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) based projects in the building and energy sector.
