Hywel Williams
We are delighted to let you know that Co-director of the Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology (CEBD), Prof Hywel Williams has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the recent Queen’s birthday honours list for services to higher education and medical research. This is in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of dermatology along with his service to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), both as former Director of the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme and in recognition of his contribution to the pandemic in helping to manage the NIHR Covid-19 research response which ensured that effective treatments reached NHS patients in record time.
Hywel says “I have to confess that this all came as a bit of shock, but a nice one. These sort of things are only possible due to the collaboration, support and loyalty from my colleagues at the CEBD and beyond. One thing you can be sure of, and that is there will be no airs and graces here – it sleeves up and back to work.”
