Nottingham Eczema Severity Score (NESS)

The aim of this severity assessment is to provide an assessment of clinical severity of atopic eczema (AE) using a single practical evaluation based on the following parameters: (i) clinical duration of AE; (ii) intensity as measured by average sleep disturbance; and (iii) extent of disease involvement. The evaluation is intended to allow cases to be graded into the categories of mild, moderate and severe based on a combination of clinical symptoms in the past 12 months and a single clinical examination.
