Aims

Develop and test the feasibility of using a SMS text messaging intervention to promote physical activity in patients with knee OA using data collected in 'real-time'.

Objectives

  • Establish whether the components of an SMS intervention are delivered consistently and accurately to the target group (intervention fidelity)
  • Monitor engagement with the intervention and comprehension of the messaging content
  • Ascertain whether the method is feasible and acceptable to knee OA patients and whether it is perceived as obtrusive or unobtrusive

Methods

PPI consultation, intervention design, single-group cohort study for intervention testing, 'real-time' collection of monitoring data, evaluation data collection, health outcome measures.
