Can learning analytics increase learners’ experiences, satisfaction, engagement and performance?

This internal project, conducted by the DICE group in collaboration with the HELM team, aims to identify the role of learning analytics in students’ education. The project’s objectives are to research whether or not students’ institutional VLE activity data can enhance their learning experience, satisfaction, engagement and performance. Can the activity data lead to a personalised online learning experience?

In the first phase of the project, we are developing an in-house learning analytics system to visualise students’ engagement and compare it their performance.

In the second phase of the project, further research will be done on providing feedback to the students (personalisation element). Meanwhile, we will also check the validity of the results in regards to the effect on students’ experience, satisfaction, engagement and performance.
