Kirsty is an Anne McLaren Fellow based in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Nottingham. Kirsty completed her graduate training in astrophysics but has been working in the field of infectious disease modelling, focussing on pandemic influenza, since late 2009.

She is particularly interested in the role of the immune response in shaping the transmission dynamics of pandemic influenza, and the influence of pharmaceutical interventions on influenza strain competition and evolution.

Dr Ana Mateus is a UK FETP Fellow at the HPA East Midlands Unit under the supervision of Prof Jonathan Van-Tam (HPIRG, University of Nottingham). She is a veterinary surgeon by training and has a PhD in epidemiology.

Ana is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Public Health (ECVPH) in Population Medicine. Her main interests are zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, antimicrobial usage and resistance patterns in pathogens relevant to public health.

She works as an epidemiologist in training performing in the routine surveillance duties as part of the Surveillance and Epidemiology Team (SET) of the HPA regional unit. She is currently working in the development of a protocol for a rubella-specific Ig G seroprevalence study in Poland (ECDC project) and in the evaluation of salmonella enhanced surveillance data (SQuITs) in East Midlands (North Region).

Subha is Glaxosmithkline UK medical advisor working in vaccine development with a public health background and has a strong interest in vaccine effectiveness and infectious disease transmission.

She is currently working on a PhD research proposal to use GSKs publicly accessible clinical trial databases to identify factors influencing vaccine effectiveness.
