ESR1: Phase Field Multiscale numerical modelling of damage in layered composites

Udit is a mechanical engineer specializing in computational structural mechanics. He holds a M.Sc. in Simulation Sciences from RWTH Aachen University, Germany (2017) and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani, India (2013). He was also a part of Hypermesh Crash tools development team at Altair Engineering, India (2013-2014). Prior to joining University of Nottingham as a Marie-Sklodowska Curie researcher in June 2017, he has worked on FEM simulations of hydraulic fracture in porous materials using phase-field modelling approach. His primary interest lies in development of numerical methods for simulating damage problems.

Mr. Muhammad Khalid
ESR2: Modelling wave propagation and interaction with damage in complex aerospace composites

Khalid is an aerospace engineer specializing in computational structural mechanics. Khalid obtained a M. Sc. in Computational Mechanics with distinction from Technical University of Munich, Germany (2016) and a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology, Pakistan (2012). He worked for two years as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at Shaheen Air International, Pakistan (2012-2014). He also did an internship at Ixent GmbH, Germany (2016-2017) where he worked on developing a software for automating composite modeling in ANSA. Prior to joining University of Nottingham as a Marie Sklodowska Curie researcher in August 2017, he worked on developing a state of the art element technology to simulate the crash behavior of composite structures with BMW. His primary interest lies in simulation of complex composite structures.

 

Mr. Sergio Cantero Chinchilla
ESR3: Development of an optimal experimental strategy for ultrasonic GW based SHM of aerospace composites

 Sergio holds a degree in Civil Engineering and an MSc in Structural Engineering from University of Granada, Spain. He has worked on nonlinear ultrasonic techniques for early nondestructive damage monitoring, both experimentally and computationally and has gained expertise in model-based Bayesian Inverse Problem. Sergio has also undertaken research on nanotechnology for improving matrix-fiber adhesion of carbon fiber composites.
