Our People

Since 2017, the University of Nottingham and the Connected Places Catapult have worked in close partnership to articulate Nottingham’s existing research capabilities across Transport, Mobility and Cities, and to align our strategic research interests. In January 2018 the University of Nottingham was the second of only six universities to sign a Deep Academic Alliance with the Connected Places Catapult, and in November 2018 the Transport Mobility and Cities @ Nottingham initiative was launched.

The initiative counts on the expertise of a number of key industry partners that are part of our Strategic Advisory Board, which is chaired by Prof Sarah Sharples. The group is a standing committee composed of senior representatives from major firms involved in the Transport, Mobility and Cities sectors, regional SMEs and government bodies, including Connected Places Catapult, Nottingham City Council, Atkins Global, Midlands Connect and Microlise. They provide strategic advice on current and future trends in the sector, research priorities and funding, and help inform how our research can best support businesses, authorities and the public.

Our multi-disciplinary leadership team has enabled a truly integrated approach to developing our world leading expertise in this diverse area. In order to learn more, please contact one of our theme leaders under each research category or check our capability statement here for a complete list.
