Cracking a 20-year puzzle -- unravelling the mechanism of organo-copper catalysts

Description: Groundbreaking research led by Simon Woodward, a professor of synthetic organic chemistry at the University of Nottingham, has proved how a catalyst in organo-copper chemistry works.

Prof. Sir Martyn Poliakoff elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering

Description: Professor Sir Martyn Poliakoff CBE FRS, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering for his pioneering work in supercritical fluids which was judged "to combine engineering and chemistry in a highly imaginative way". Election to the Royal Academy of Engineering is one of the highest honours for an engineer in the UK, and there are now 10 Fellows at Nottingham including emeritus professors, underlining the quality of engineering research at the University.

MASS student presents research at 4th EDAR conference in Michigan

Description: Last month saw first year MASS student Christopher Lanyon attend the 4th International Symposium on the Environmental Dimension of Antibiotic Resistance (EDAR 4) at Michigan State University.

Professor Gerardo Adesso shortlisted in the '2017 Oscars' of the higher education sector

Description: Professor Adesso has been shortlisted in the 'Outstanding Research Supervisor of the Year' category in a national competition to highlight the best of higher education.

Dr Stephen Cox has article featured in IEEE journal

Description: Dr Stephen Cox's paper has been selected as the highlighted article in a future edition of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics journal.
