What We Do

The University of Nottingham Community Engagement Team works to foster a positive, inclusive environment for students and the wider Nottingham community, focusing on building respectful, supportive relationships between student residents and local neighbourhoods. Through a range of outreach activities, partnerships, and support initiatives, the team promotes harmonious living, good neighbourliness, and student accountability in noise, waste management, and community safety.

Community Presence and Support

The team are present in the local area, participating in ‘Ward Walks’ and ‘Joint Patrols’ which enable speedy intervention when community issues are raised. The team coordinates our Community Engagement Ambassadors who connect with students on-site and at events and distribute essential information, also serve as approachable contacts for residents.

Collaboration with Local Authorities

Proactively working with Nottinghamshire Police, the City Council, and community organisations, the team addresses neighbourhood issues, mediates concerns, and organises proactive campaigns to reduce anti-social behaviour and promote positive community interactions.

Community-Building Initiatives

Campaigns like 'Good Neighbours' and initiatives like our 'Community Chest Fund' encourage students to contribute positively to their local community. The team also promote environmental and social justice projects, providing students with plentiful opportunities to contribute to Nottingham’s thriving culture.
