You are expected to sit your in-person exams in Nottingham. If you need a written exam to be invigilated overseas during the exam period, you'll need to check that your school will allow this and find an approved overseas institution in your area.

Information about your overseas exam application

  • Arrangements for exams to be taken overseas are only made for students who have had approval from their school before submitting an application. If you need to take exams overseas in more than 1 exam period, you will need complete a separate application for each one.
  • Overseas exams will take place at the same time (or as close as possible) to the same exam in Nottingham.
  • Not every exam can be taken overseas, and overseas exam arrangements will not be made for students who are on holiday or temporarily overseas during the exam period.
  • You will receive the outcome of your overseas exam application by email, after the deadline has passed.

Overseas exam timetable

If your overseas exam application is approved, you will be emailed with your exam dates and times after the exam timetable has been released. Your exam timetable will initially display UK dates and times, but this will be amended to reflect the overseas dates and times.

You will need to use the exam timetable on SharePoint, as the MyNottingham app and MyCal may display incorrect start times if they are synced with the time zones set up on your devices.

Fees for overseas exams

You will be charged a fee of £150 for sitting an exam overseas, this charge is applied per exam period, no matter how many individual exams are taken in that session.

This fee is charged in addition to resit fees and any local charges that may apply to the institution administering your exam, (these should be paid directly to the institution).

Fees will be raised after each exam period and will show in NottinghamHub when they are due for payment.

Autumn semester - fees are raised in February
