PGT welcome
Useful information
Welcome to our postgraduate taught students
My name is Chun-yi Lee and I am the Director of the postgraduate taught programmes in the School of Politics and International Relations.
On behalf of the whole school, I extend a welcome to you and hope that you will enjoy studying with us on one of our masters courses.
During Welcome Week, I will be giving a welcome address where I will explain to you some of the features of the school and the various agencies that are there to support you.
You should be enrolling on one of these MA programmes:
- MA International Relations
- MA International Security and Terrorism
- MA Politics and Contemporary History
- MA Social Science Research
Our MAs are designed to give you a detailed knowledge of a subject area and they are taught by experts in their fields. Our aim is to develop your understanding, enhance your problem-solving abilities and your capacity to work with others. You will undertake optional modules that allow you to develop new areas of interest and you will have the opportunity to research a subject of your choice in your dissertation.
Finding your feet
During Welcome Week, you will register with Student Services for your degree programme and choose your optional modules. You will have opportunities to meet the community of postgraduate students who, like you, will be studying on our MA programmes this year. Teaching starts in the week beginning 30 September.
We are here to support you
We will be introducing to you the various people in our school and university who are available to help you. These include personal tutors as well as wellbeing and support staff. Our aim is to ensure that you have the support you need to be able to focus on your studies and develop your potential.
