Little Vet Sign up!
Firstly, welcome to vet school, we cannot wait to meet you.
The big vet little vet scheme is run by VetSoc. We pair up like-minded second years with freshers with the aim of providing freshers a point of contact in vet school. The big vets will be there to answer any questions, meet up with, give some advice or just to be a friendly face on campus.
Please make sure you have filled this form and joined by 31 August 2024.

We will have a couple of socials in the first few weeks to help freshers settle in and plenty more throughout the year so make sure to keep an eye out on VetSoc’s Instagram!

Welcome from the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science
Welcome to the University of Nottingham.
You’re now on your way to becoming a successful veterinary surgeon and we are delighted that you have chosen to begin your career with us. Congratulations, you deserve it!
Over 300 students enrol into the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science each year. You’ll be part of a dynamic, vibrant, and hard-working cohort with the academic ability and personal attributes needed to become a member of the veterinary profession.
Our school is a highly-stimulating learning environment made up of students, staff, and researchers from around the world – all committed to innovative learning and scientific discovery. Your time here will equip you with the diagnostic, surgical and medical skills required to succeed in the ever-changing world of veterinary medicine, providing the best possible foundation on which to build your career.
As a veterinary student, you’re studying for both a university degree and a professional qualification. This can be challenging, so it’s important to let off some steam every now and then. To get the most from your university experience and maintain a healthy work/life balance, find an enjoyable activity away from your studies to sustain your academic enthusiasm. VetSoc, the university’s veterinary society, encourages students to get together and unwind outside of their studies, with an array of social, charitable, and scholastic events designed to promote community spirit and recreation outside of academia. The university's Students' Union also boasts 200 other societies and over 70 sports clubs, as well as many additional activities. So, there’s guaranteed to be something for everyone.
I look forward to meeting you in Welcome Week and getting to know you over the coming years, both as students and future colleagues. Congratulations once again, your time is now.
