Churchill's Secret Army: The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare

Location
Online Zoom
Date(s)
Tuesday 13th (23:30) - Wednesday 14th June 2023 (00:45)
Description

As part of the SUIT visit to Washington, Professor Rory Cormac will be delivering a lecture for Smithsonian Associates

Rory will trace how Churchill’s enthusiasm for intelligence operations drove a global secret war, sometimes regardless of consequence. He explores whether Churchill’s impetuousness wasted military resources overseas, stirred up trouble at home, and sent thousands of brave men and women to needless deaths. Ultimately, Cormac suggests that despite some failures, Churchill’s decisions proved astute, and that SOE’s legacy shaped the peace in surprising and sometimes dramatic ways.

Please note this online event is being hosted on Zoom by Smithsonian Associates. Tickets for this event need to be purchased on the event website. The lecture will take place on Tuesday 13 June 6-30-7.45 pm ET.
