Our areas of research interest include:
- New technologies in horticulture (including aquaponics and other symbiotic systems).
- Resource-use efficiency and environmental impact (water, nutrient, waste, energy, carbon).
- Technological challenges (construction materials, lighting, energy, plant growth, food quality).
- Modelling natural light penetration in the building and phase change energy technologies for buildings and greenhouses.
- Socio-Economic aspects (resource availability, efficiency, sustainability in development).
The Centre for Urban Agriculture is a cross-faculty initiative involving Engineering, Economics and Biosciences.
