We are thrilled to announce that the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science has been honoured with the Athena SWAN Bronze Award by the Equality Challenge Unit for its efforts to promote equality and diversity.
Dr Jasmeet Kaler, Associate Professor in Epidemiology and Farm Animal Health who led the school’s application commented: “I am delighted by the news. This is a tribute to all the staff and students in the school who put effort to ensure that the principles of Athena SWAN are embedded into our culture at every level. We fully appreciate that there is lot more to do and our focus is on implementation of our ambitious action plan and build on our success.“
Professor Gary England, Foundation Dean commented: “Receiving the Athena SWAN Bronze award is a great achievement for our school. We strive for equality and diversity in all what we do so it’s great to be recognised for our effort. Our school ethos is to promote diversity in thinking and not diversity only as a statistic. This award is an important milestone; we acknowledge the ongoing challenges and we're committed to improve equality and diversity to ensure everyone feels valued. I’d like to thank all of the team for their work and commitment, and in particular Jasmeet for her amazing leadership.”
