Building on the success of last year’s event, that saw over 90 business representatives in attendance, this year’s Employer Engagement Day offers more opportunities to tailor your experience to your business needs.

Why attend?

The Employer Engagement Day provides an excellent opportunity for peer-to-peer support. Employers new to apprenticeships, or considering developing their people on the university’s apprenticeships, can meet with employers already engaging with our apprenticeships who can give advice and first-hand insight into their experience.

Morning forums for employers already accessing our degree apprenticeship programmes

The morning starts with our Annual Employer Forums, specifically for employers who already have apprentices on-programme at the university. These forums promote collaboration across our employer community, as well as between the different cohorts on an apprenticeship, and provide a platform for meaningful feedback to support the continuous improvement of our programmes.

Networking lunch and business exhibition

Businesses considering joining the university’s programmes in 2025 will then be invited to join us for a networking lunch and exhibition where they will be able to explore the services for businesses available at the university.

Degree apprenticeship programme information sessions

All attendees will have the opportunity to attend our dedicated programme information sessions. During these short afternoon sessions, the programme teams for our Electro-mechanical Engineer and Data Scientist Degree Apprenticeship will provide overviews of their programmes.

This is a great opportunity for attendees to explore the suitability of the apprenticeships for their staff development. The Degree Apprenticeship Employer Engagement Team will also be on hand to provide personalised advice on everything from funding eligibility to application timelines.

Afternoon workshops: Enhance your workforce development

All employers are invited to join the afternoon workshops, delivered by the university’s expert staff and designed to provide advice on key themes in workforce development and apprenticeships. Confirmed workshops include:

Recruiting Apprentices

Led by Hannah Thompson, one of our Faculty Careers and Employability Consultants, this session will explore the latest data insights on recruiting apprentices to help support you in the successful attraction and retention of the best candidates.

Inclusive Leadership

Explore how to create truly inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive with Nottingham University Business School’s Director of EDI, Dr Andri Georgiadou, in this interactive workshop. Beyond being a taster of Nottingham University Business School’s Inclusive Leadership programme. this workshop offers valuable networking opportunities with fellow professionals committed to making meaningful change.

Inclusive Hiring: Breaking Barriers & Building Better Recruitment Strategies

Join Ruth Francis, Learning and Development Manager at the university’s Institute of Technical Skills and Strategy for a practical and insightful discussion on diversity in recruitment. This workshop will explore common barriers to inclusive hiring, challenge biases in the recruitment process, and provide actionable strategies to improve your recruitment campaigns.
