We are delighted to congratulate Dr Elizabeth Bishop, Programme Director for the Electro-mechanical Engineer Degree Apprenticeship at the University of Nottingham, for her recent award as Design and Make Community Leader at the Autodesk Design and Make Awards 2024!
The Autodesk Design and Make Awards is an annual event honouring an inspiring collection of innovators exploring bold opportunities with technology to transform their industries and make a lasting impact on the world.
Dr Bishop, also an Autodesk Student Ambassador, won the award for her significant contribution towards nurturing future engineers, leading the country’s top Electro-mechanical Engineer Degree Apprenticeship programme*. Moreover, she received the award because of her inspirational presence within the STEM community.

We asked Dr Bishop for her thoughts on the award, and she said:
“I’m over the moon to have accepted the Design and Make Community Leader of the Year award at the Autodesk Design and Make Awards! It’s an awesome community and I’m excited to continue building it and inspiring students, especially by championing other women within the STEM community.”
As Programme Director for the Electro-mechanical Engineer Degree Apprenticeship, she’s at the forefront of new developments within engineering design and applies her expert knowledge to teaching within the programme. Dr Bishop is one of our biggest advocates for the Electro-mechanical Engineer Degree Apprenticeship at the university and is continually striving to ensure apprentices can reach their full potential.
The university is pleased that Dr Bishop has received external recognition for her hard work and determination within engineering design – we are proud to support her work in widening participation within STEM.
