Michael Eyley (BA History) spent a semester in Australia

Studying abroad is a fantastic opportunity to engage with different academic institutions and their approaches to teaching, and to travel. For example, the particular research focus of the history department at the ANU allowed me to explore my passion for environmental history. This has really helped my studies back in Nottingham, especially in giving me the confidence to select a distinctive dissertation topic.

Studying abroad gives you the chance to leave your comfort zone. After my exams, I had three months before lectures restarted in Nottingham, giving me the opportunity to explore Australia, the Pacific islands, and South-East Asia. With generous funding and finance available, from the government and the University, study abroad is a financially realistic opportunity available to all history students at the University of Nottingham. A truly wonderful experience.
