Athena SWAN Silver Award

The School has been given a Silver Athena SWAN award by Advance HE in recognition of our on-going committment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

This award builds on our previous Bronze award and recognises the work undertaken to identify and act upon any concerns. 

Professor Clive Roberts, Head of School, said "We are delighted that our efforts in relation to gender equality have been recognised in this way. It is our ambition to be an inclusive, modern and agile School in which diversity is valued and gender, or any protected characteristic, is not a barrier to achievement".

Work on the Athena SWAN application was led by the School's Equality and Diversity Committee under Dr Cornelia de Moor. The Committee is also concerned with broader diversity issues in relation to other protected characteristics.
