Activities for Pre-16 students in local schools

Activities for Pre-16 students in local schools

The Widening Participation and Student Recruitment Outreach Team offers both in-school sessions and campus visits for state schools across the East Midlands. We work towards raising aspirations, attainment and progression to university, particularly among learners who are from backgrounds which are currently under-represented in higher education. Example activities include an introduction to higher education, memory techniques for effective studying and a year group campus visit.

Please download our activity menu for more information.

We are also happy to introduce a selection of new interactive toolkits, which have been developed to be completed in-school at a time that best suits you. We recommend these resources for schools who want to engage in University outreach but are unable to host in-school delivery. These online toolkits cover a range of topics including university accommodation, understanding how universities can differ from one another and the significance of sports and societies within higher education. All materials have been created with flexibility in mind - sessions can last between 30 to 60 mins and be delivered to a Key Stage 3 or Key Stage 4 audience depending on the activities selected. The most effective way of delivering the toolkits is within a computer based classroom , allowing students to navigate them individually having access to a computer.

If you would like to request any of the activities, please complete the relevant online booking forms, which can be found below. We can take school bookings throughout the year, subject to availability.

Discovery Days - Sport

Run in partnership with our Sports team, this event offers Key Stage 4 students the opportunity to visit University of Nottingham, meet current students and to stay healthy and active.

Pupils will get access to our fantastic David Ross Sports Village and use some of our facilities with our sports clubs. They will be taken on a tour and will get the opportunity to ask questions around sport and what that looks like at universities. Discovery Days take place throughout the year in term time only.

To request a Sport Discovery Day, please complete a campus visit booking request form found in the blue box above.
