Biography

Dr Lisa Coneyworth is an Assistant Professor within the Division of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics. She completed her BSc Food and Human Nutrition degree at Newcastle University before working towards her PhD within the Institute of Cellular and Molecular Nutrition at Newcastle University, under the supervision of Professor Dianne Ford and Professor John Mathers. The went on to complete a period of post doctoral work at Nottingham University in the Wolfson Centre for Stem Cells, Tissue Engineering and Modelling (STEM) before joining the Division of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics in 2012.

Her research expertise lie within the area of micronutrients and more specifically the prevalence, causes and impact of micronutrient deficiencies in individuals following restricted diets and the impact of ageing and living arrangements on micronutrient intake and status.

Her pedagogical research interests focus on the postgraduate taught student experience and the transition to higher level study.

Lisa is currently the MSc Nutritional Sciences course director and is module convenor for the 1st year undergraduate module Introduction to Nutrition, the 2nd year undergraduate module Global Issues in Nutrition and the MSc module Research Skills in Nutrition.

Lisa teaches on the following undergraduate modules; Introduction to Nutrition, Global Issues in Nutrition, Nutrition and Health of the Populations and Molecular Nutrition.

Lisa also teaches on the following MSc modules; Research Skills in Nutrition, Fundamentals of Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Systematic Review in Nutrition and Molecular Nutrition.

Lisa is chair of the postgraduate exam board and plays an active role in developing the Schools Teaching and Learning Strategy. Lisa received a Lord Dearing Award in 2018 which recognises excellence in teaching and learning.
