The School of Biosciences has a global reputation for excellence in teaching, research and links with industry. Biosciences are predominantly based at the Sutton Bonington campus, a rural location, yet well connected to our city campus at University Park on the free UoN Hopper Bus service.
Our Biosciences undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses provide knowledge and insight in key areas of study relevant in today's society offering the academic, technical and professional skills needed to become part of the next generation of scientists engaging in roles that contribute to addressing key global issues such as food security, manufacture and production, human health and environmental sustainability. Our range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes reflect the breadth of discipline within Biosciences and the diverse career opportunities available after graduation.
The School of Biosciences share the Sutton Bonington campus with the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, the campus has a sports facility, student guild, clubs and societies. A regular feature of our campus is the monthly farmers' market which is a community event open to the public. The campus is home to approximately 2500 students and adjoins 450 hectares of farmland, used and owned by the university which extends across nottinghamshire. This land is used for research and teaching in plant and crop, animal and soil science degrees as well as growing fodder to feed the dairy herd based in our Dairy Centre.

What is 'Biosciences' ?
Biosciences deals with the biological aspects of living organisms. It is an exciting area of study, rapidly evolving with advances in biological technologies which are used to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.
At Sutton Bonington we have five key areas of study within our School of Biosciences and our disciplines which have interlinking connections with each other.

What can I expect on an Open Day or Offer Holder Day?
School of Biosciences Open Days provide an opportunity to look around the campus and attend a subject specific lecture about courses you may be interested in. There will be an time to engage with current students and academics. There is the option to visit the sports centre, on-site accommodation and other key facilities during the visit.
The Offer Holder Days are more tailored to the specific course you have applied for and have further information regarding your chosen course of study. Most of our undergraduate courses have the option to have a placement year or engage in the Study Abroad programme.

Biosciences degrees are a gateway to a wide range of exciting roles and career opportunities. With growing global interest and investment in biosciences, many new opportunities and projects will emerge in scientific research and development in the forthcoming years. Sutton Bonington campus is a rural campus yet well connected to our city campus at University Park via our free and regular regular

Do I need to live on Sutton Bonington campus to study there?
No, If you choose to study one of the Biosciences courses taught at Sutton Bonington you can live in halls on University Park campus, private city accommodation or, if you prefer a rural location, you can live on our beautiful Sutton Bonington campus , or one of the local villages in private accommodation.

What catering facilities are there at Sutton Bonington?
The accommodation is all self catering. There is an on-site restaurant called Square Eats which serves hot food at lunch time with a varied menu, a coffee shop selling light bites and a mini supermarket for food essentials.
