Biography
David joined the University in 2008, bringing with him 25 years of corporate experience in financing companies having previously been responsible for the banking of a portfolio of mid-sized corporate relationships. His portfolio included scientific-based clients, and in particular specialised in assisting these companies with their strategic direction.
He has experience of managing both EU and Uk Government schemes, and is currently primarily responsible for managing two funding schemes; the ERDF-funded Innovation Fellowship Scheme, a translational funding scheme he manages on behalf of all 9 East Midlands Universities, and our own Hermes Fellowship Scheme. The University is currently investing £500k per year into this scheme to support business engagement, innovation and outreach activities across all faculties.
David also manages the Universities Innovation Voucher Scheme, a support mechanism aimed at encouraging SME's to collaborate with the University, and with knowledge of other funding schemes is always ready to discuss ideas and help source alternative appropriate sources of finance.
