Professor Chris Tuck
Responsibilities
As of November 2024, Professor Chris Tuck has assumed the position of Interim Faculty Pro-Vice Chancellor (FPVC) for the Faculty of Engineering. Previously, in 2018, Chris was appointed as the Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange within the same faculty.
Chris also served as Deputy Director of the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Additive Manufacturing and, in 2014, launched and directed the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Additive Manufacturing. In 2016, Chris was promoted to Professor of Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering.

Chris is an expert in Additive Manufacturing with 20 years working in Research & Development of the processes, materials, and applications of this disruptive technology as well as in leadership of large multimillion-pound, multi-partner Innovate UK, and EPSRC projects.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering & Technology, with skills in Materials Science, Process & Material Interactions, Entrepreneurship, and Commercial Awareness.
Teaching and Research Summary
In 2014 Chris co-founded Added Scientific Ltd (ASL), an independent, technology-agnostic Additive Manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing contract research company providing consultancy, problem-solving, and lab-based technical services.
In 2022, Chris co-founded Reactive Fusion (RF) Ltd to work alongside ASL in disrupting the AM industry to introduce a ground-breaking AM process and patented platform technology that eradicates many problems associated with traditional AM processes and boasts reduced cost alongside increased sustainability and versatility.
Chris has also been an Executive Member of the ASTM F42 AM standards committee, British Standards institute AM008 and ISO TC261.
