Armação dos Búzios

The conference will be held in Armação dos Búzios, a coastal resort town ~170 km east of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Armação dos Búzios, commonly known as Búzios, is a picturesque resort town on a peninsula in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Originally a small fishing village, it gained international fame in the 1960s after a visit by French actress Brigitte Bardot. Búzios is renowned for its over 20 stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and the lively Rua das Pedras, filled with shops, restaurants, and bars. The town offers a variety of water sports, from snorkeling to surfing, and enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. Easily accessible from Rio de Janeiro, Búzios combines natural beauty with a sophisticated charm, making it a top destination for tourists.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be available at the conference venue, the Atlântico Búzios Convention & Resort (🇧🇷 | 🇬🇧), a hotel and convention complex near the centre of Armação dos Búzios, Brazil.

Details of alternative accommodation will be provided in due course.

Travel

Travel information will be provided in due course.

We suggest flying directly to Rio de Janeiro International Airport. From Rio de Janeiro, we are planning on having a bus on Sunday morning to take participants to Buzios. This bus will probably leave from the Zona Sul (where the neighbourhoods of Ipanema, Copacabana, Flamengo etc are) of the city of Rio and have a stop at the international airport. We suggest that participants try to arrive by the Saturday before the conference and sleep one night in Rio de Janeiro so that one can easily catch the conference bus on Sunday morning. We plan on having a bus leaving from Buzios to the city of Rio, Friday afternoon.

Things to do

Armação dos Búzios is a popular tourist destination and is renown for its beaches, all of which are a short walk from the conference venue.
