Huge congratulations to our fantastic botanists at Sutton Bonington campus who triumphed at the 2022 Botanical University Challenge!
Students from the School of Biosciences, University of Nottingham were the winners of a two-day Botany Challenge, closely fought between 18 universities across the UK.
Following a pub quiz style event on day one, our Botanists made it through to the quarter finals, semi-final and finally won the final against Manchester Metropolitan.
The winning team members were: Thomas McBride as Captain, Georgina Griffiths, and Sarah Bailey (all final year Plant Science BSc), Rachel Banks (Final year agriculture) and Jakob Buchreiter (1st year PhD Crop Science). They played RHS (110:40) and then Manchester (120:100). The final score against MMU was 160:130 after 24 questions each worth 10 points each. It was a closely fought match all the way through!
