About us

The current enterprise ecosystem does not provide sufficient, fair and productive access to entrepreneurship for all, especially for underrepresented groups such as women, individuals from ethnic minority groups or those experiencing disability. A joined-up, partnership approach to developing an inclusive ecosystem improves the inclusivity of service offerings and supports greater uptake of such services supporting diversity, inclusion and economic and social development. This could be supported by effective policy to support inclusive entrepreneurship.

Informed by her research and engagement activity relating to women’s entrepreneurship, the Charter for inclusive entrepreneurship was devised by Dr Lorna Treanor, FRSA, of Nottingham University Business School.

Lorna co-authored the Charter with Helen Burkinshaw of The Women’s Organisation with input from regional collaborators D2N2 LEP, the Federation of Small Businesses, and East Midlands Chambers of Commerce among others.

The Charter was launched in the East Midlands by Professor Shearer West, Vice-Chancellor University of Nottingham, on 23 March 2023 with the national launch being held in the Shard in October that year.

Whether you are an individual who would like to support the Charter, or an organisation that would like to become a signatory to the Charter, we encourage you to get involved.
