Research projects
Previous Africa Research Group's research projects have included the following:
Globalisation and knowledge appropriation within an African context
This project examined the challenge of globalisation and the management of human resources with an initial focus on Kenya.
Researchers: Professor Ken Kamoche and Dr Aminu Mamman.
Funded by the British Academy.
Africa-China business investments and relations
This project considered the nature and scope of Chinese investments in Africa. Chinese state-owned enterprises and private firms have in recent years expanded their operations in various parts of Africa, particularly but not limited to infrastructural construction, mining, textiles, and trading.
We were interested in their strategic interest in Africa, the challenges they face operating in Africa, the nature of work relations, cross-cultural issues and human resources, business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
Researchers: Professor Ken Kamoche, Dr Lisa Siebers, and Dr Stephen Nyambegera.
Funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
