Engage with us
At WEORG we are working towards a sustainable future by improving people’s experience of work and by shaping a better, fairer and more resilient world of work.
External engagement is embedded into the way we approach our work, and is embedded into our teaching, research and knowledge exchange activities.
We encourage:
- our students to engage with business, develop their skills and enhance their employability
- our colleagues to develop relationships with business and to benefit their teaching and research activities
We work with colleagues across the Business School including the careers and employability service, executive education and the University’s corporate partnerships team to help us engage with businesses.
Work with us
We are interested in developing long term partnerships with businesses, policy makers and others who are interested in improving people’s experiences of work. Engage with us, and you can benefit from our students’ research, employ a full-time employee through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership or commission us to undertake specialist research.
Guest lectures
We are always interested in hearing from industry experts who are keen to share their knowledge and experiences with our students and researchers.
Opportunities include delivering guest lectures, taking part in Management Talks Series, or sharing particular expertise at summer schools.
We also run various “business challenges” on our taught programmes, where our students could help and engage with your business.
Research projects
Do you have a project that needs fresh input or in-depth research? We can help your business through:
- doctoral research projects – we can work with you to design doctoral research projects and apply for the ESRC collaborative studentship. This only requires in-kind or minimal financial input form the company, as student fee and stipend are covered by the Research Council. This research takes places over three years and can be designed to meet strategic objectives of the company.
- company based challenge – these in-depth studies are carried out by our MSc or MBA students and are suitable for short projects, which may include examining existing data or doing short exploratory studies.
Alternatively, your company could sponsor a PhD studentship.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are a UK-wide part grant-funded scheme helping businesses of all sizes to innovate using the knowledge and expertise of UK universities. Projects can be 1-3 years duration. This allows your company to hire a full-time employee (called a KTP associate), and academic time is included, making it a cost-effective option.
Consultancy
Your company can commission research or consultancy services with us:
- Direct with the University - which covers staff time and overheads. This process is similar to when we develop proposals for research grant applications, and works best for a longer-term project
- Nottingham University Consultants, this is better for shorter projects
