Undergraduate courses

Some of our courses offer specific opportunities to study abroad. These are aimed at enhancing your knowledge of the subject and how it is taught in different countries.

History of Art BA

This core module for single honours second year students allows you to discover a city through detailed exploration of its history and art.

Extensive preparation is followed by a four to five day visit and the development of a portfolio.

This visit will give you a real insight into studying, researching and experiencing art and architecture in another country.

Having a whole city of artwork to work with allowed us to be individual in our choice of topic, and it was an amazing opportunity to refine and focus our art historical interests before deciding on a dissertation topic.

International Media and Communications joint honours degrees

If you take a joint honours in International Media and Communications Studies with a language (French, German, Postruguese or Spanish) you can spend your third year abroad in a country where your language is widely used (subject to meeting academic requirements).

With extensive support beforehand you'll have opportunities to work and study and get to know the language and culture in depth.

Full details of the Year Abroad scheme

Until my year abroad, my French speaking was far from good. It's a really unique learning experience when you are completely out of your comfort zone. My year abroad was the best year ever!
