Mark Sabine co-leads discussion on Cinema and Anticolonial Liberation Struggles film series

Dr Mark Sabine, Department of Modern Languages and Cultures,  co-led a discussion following a film screeming at Nottingham Contemporary last week: the final screening in the 'Cinema and Anticolonial Liberation Struggles' series is Flora Gomes's classic _Mortu Nega_ ('Those Whom Death Refused'), an account of the struggle for independence in Guinea-Bissau, and of the bravery, sacrifices and defiance of a pioneering woman, Diminga, took place on 22 September. The screening was followed by a discussion led by Mark Sabine and Raquel Ribeiro (University of Edinburgh).
