The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures is excited to announce our plans for students of Russian who will be spending their year abroad. Plans for the Russian year abroad during the next academic year had to change in February and March due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The placements now up and running for our students will take them to Estonia or Latvia, or both.
In the autumn semester, Russian year abroad students will go to Narva in Estonia. It’s a small city with a fascinating history, situated right on the Russian border, and with Russian-speaking inhabitants. The study placement is run by the Narva branch of the University of Tartu.
In the spring semester, Russian year abroad students will be studying in Riga, the capital city of Latvia. A historic and culturally rich city, Riga is home to a large number of Russian speakers. We will update students in due course about the study placement in Riga.
