Translation of María Prado's (Des)de los escombros performed at the Cervantes Theatre in London

Simon Breden (Department of Modern Languages and Cultures) had his translation of María Prado's (Des)de los escombros, On/From Debris,  performed as a staged reading at the Cervantes Theatre in London, in May 2019, as part of the New Spanish Playwright season which this year is dedicated to women playwrights. The reading was directed by the playwright herself, and the cast was made up of Adela Leiro, Candela Gómez and Nansi Nsue. All three performers were bilingual, and read the original Spanish on the previous evening. Both the play and the translation were universally praised, and it is hoped that a full production may be in the pipeline for next year.
