Widening Participation – Going Global Event

We welcomed 70 local school pupils aged 12-17 at our annual Business Language Champions event in the Great Hall on 06/02/2018. Business Language Champions (winners of the 2017 Threlford Memorial Cup, Chartered Institute of Linguists) deliver business-focused, fun days for pupils to demonstrate how languages can be used in business and trade situations. This is the third time we have hosted and co-coordinated one of these events. Many thanks to Monika Poray-Zbrozek Savage for her inspiring taster in Russian language and to the student ambassadors: George Tickner, Marvel Kalukembi, Rhianna Greene, Izzy Adeoba-Onyiah (who delivered a Portuguese language taster), Rebecca Cheshire, Kassia Rodgers, Dominic Langer and Jessica Aloe, all of whom were inspiring role models and supportive group leader, and a special thank you to Eugenio Hernandez Gomez, Year Abroad Manager, who stepped in at the last minute to represent Spain in the competitive trading activity.
