SEAtS

Attendance lecture

As part of our commitment to support you in completing your studies, we have introduced a new engagement management platform - SEAtS. SEAtS allows you to register your attendance at centrally timetabled teaching activities as well as log your engagement with Moodle and Echo.

This will initially be piloted within the following schools:

  • Chemical and Environmental Engineering
  • Foundation Arts
  • Law
  • Midwifery
  • Pharmacy

What if I study modules outside of the pilot school?

You will continue to use the existing attendance registration process for that school/department. This will then pull through into the new SEAtS system. However, this may take a day or two to show in the SEAtS app so don’t worry if it doesn't show up straight away. If your attendance doesn't show up after a couple of days, please contact the student engagement and attendance project team and they will assist.

Download the app

To use the SEAtS system, you will need to download the app. It’s available for iOS and Android devices. Please download the app before your classes begin so it is ready to use right away.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can log in using your university username and password.

How does it work?

For teaching activities on campus, attendance can be registered via the SEAtS app. To do this, please follow the below steps:

  1. Tap the calendar icon which will lead you to ‘Current events’
  2. Tap ‘Check in’
  3. Your camera will open in the scanning viewfinder
  4. Scan the QR code (if your phone is unable to scan the QR code, don’t worry; your lecturer will provide you with a one-time check-in code instead)

You may only scan attendance for yourself. Fraudulent scanning of QR codes falls under section 8.3 of the Code of Discipline for Students and will result in disciplinary action.

Please note, it’s not possible for us to amend records. If the occasional session isn't recorded in SEAtS, please be assured that this won't impact your progress negatively. However, if you continuously miss taught sessions/don't check in, we would then contact you to see if you require any further support.

If you have any questions, please see our frequently asked questions. If you still need to get in touch, use the 'Ask a question' button on the homepage to submit your enquiry. When completing the form, please ensure you choose the following options:

  • Within the 'I want to ask about' dropdown, choose '0.9 Timetabling'
  • Within the 'What's the problem?' dropdown, choose 'Engagement Management App (SEAtS)'
