Peter Burke

Peter Burke is an Educational Consultant and Special Lecturer in the School of Education, University of Nottingham.

He was a secondary school teacher before working in public examinations, and was Chief Executive to the Southern Examining Group, responsible for managing the introduction of the new GCSE examining system.

As well as being a CDELL team member, he is also Chairman of the AlphaPlus Consultancy and has considerable experience of monitoring and evaluating projects, assessment arrangements, qualifications and teaching and learning in educational, vocational and occupational settings at all levels, from primary age to adult. Recent commissions include: development of computer-based assessments for the Teacher Development Agency, CCEA in N Ireland and the Scottish Qualifications Authority; Embedding Skills for Life within vocational qualifications for DfES; the development of computer-based Screening and Initial Assessment Tools for DfES; monitoring the impact of Key schools in schools and colleges for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority; developing an  assessment and grading scheme for Specialised Diplomas for QCA, with University of Warwick. He is about to commence work for the Driving Standards Agency on the development of a new suite of questions for the driving test.
